"Whereas public safety telecommunicators serve as the 1st and most vital point of contact between the public and emergency services," McQuiston read, and later introduced telecommunicators present at City Hall for a brief recognition. A police/public-safety representative described dispatchers who “ended up sleeping on cots for numerous days at the PD, working extra hours” during a recent severe-weather event and thanked them for sustained effort.
The mayor invited the dispatch team forward for a photograph and singled out Wayneette Rogers as one of the individuals who worked extended shifts during the hard freeze. City staff emphasized the continuity of dispatch service during emergencies and encouraged residents to recognize the work of communications staff.
