Commissioners approve limited vehicle‑marking exceptions for sheriff's vehicles in 3–2 vote

Langan said photos of similar vehicles were shown to the court.
Commissioners debated consistency with countywide vehicle policy and precedent for other departments. The judge said consistency matters and recounted a prior denial of a policy variance for a constable; after discussion a motion to grant the three exceptions passed 3–2. "When we did all the work to lay out a policy that would be countywide, I'd like to see us hold to that policy," the judge said when explaining his opposition to the exceptions. The motion passed with two commissioners opposing.
