Board reviews license growth, inspection rise and complaint trends; FTC Funeral Rule disclosure issues flagged

Executive Director Stephanie McGee presented quarterly statistics through Sept. 30, 2025, reporting total licensees increased from 458 to 481 across the three reported quarters and facility licenses fell from 131 to 127. The application period July 1–Sept. 30 recorded 17 applications across license types.
McGee reported inspection activity rose: CY2023 had 41 inspections, CY2024 had 47, and CY2025 had 64 year-to-date. The board noted the most frequent noncompliance findings were: required disclosures not matching the Federal Trade Commission’s Funeral Rule language and inaccurate or untimely regulatory fee filings. As of Nov. 15, 2025, 13 complaints remained open with various statuses including pending investigations and pending lawsuits.
