The Clute City Council voted to exercise the first one-year contract option with DRC Emergency Services LLC for emergency debris removal, adopting Resolution No. 16-2026 by unanimous voice vote.
Staff explained DRC was the selected contractor from the 2022 procurement and that the contract included two optional one-year extensions. Officials praised DRC’s response after Hurricane 'Barrel', noting crews were on-site quickly and that the company donated services valued near $20,000 during the initial response. "They were actually on-site that afternoon... donated close to $20,000 of that initial push work," staff said. The extension is retroactive to last June and, if approved in the future, a final year would be added in 2027 after re-bidding.
The resolution was approved without recorded opposition; staff said they intend to negotiate the next extension and ensure continuity before the summer hurricane season.
