NASA administrator: Genesys will power data-driven discovery and next-generation space propulsion work

Administrator Isaacman said Genesys will let NASA combine archival data and AI to find discoveries that would otherwise be missed and will support mission concepts that require AI-enabled autonomy. He highlighted the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope and synergy with ground and space survey assets, and said AI will help manage data at scales NASA expects to receive from upcoming telescopes.
Isaacman also discussed propulsion and deep-space operations, describing fission- or fusion-based propulsion research and the SR 1 Freedom concept targeted for 2028. He said that managing reactors and high-temperature systems in deep-space environments will require close collaboration with DOE and other agencies. "We are gonna have to leverage AI and partnerships with DOE to advance new forms of propulsion," Isaacman said.
