City planning staff presented two separate agenda items for self-storage developments. For 8.2, staff said the applicant for a facility on North Main Street sought a minor site-plan amendment to add one additional storage building of about 450 square feet; Planning and Zoning recommended approval and no opposition was reported. The council opened the public hearing, heard no public comments, closed the hearing and approved the amendment unanimously.
For 8.3, staff described an expansion of an existing Ready Now Storage site with three new buildings (one office and two storage-only structures) and several site improvements including pavement, additional parking and detention. The applicant requested variances from a required 15-foot landscape buffer (proposing screening shrubs due to site constraints), building-material percentages (seeking to allow greater metal siding to match existing buildings), and a reduced primary-facade window coverage (proposing 17% where 20% is required). Planning and Zoning recommended approval with the requested variations and the council approved the SUP and variances.
