Genesys mission panel announces more than $5 billion in initial commitments to AI-enabled science

CTO Ethan Klein opened a panel of federal science and technology leaders and framed the Genesys mission as a coordinated, whole-of-government effort to accelerate AI-enabled scientific discovery. Klein said the initiative brings together DOE, NIH, NASA, NSF and defense partners and framed the announcement as part of a larger federal R&D enterprise that "has our interagency partners" and is moving toward a new era of AI-enabled science.
"With the announcement of over $5,000,000,000 today," Klein said, "I just wanna give our panelists here an opportunity to ... speak to how their departments and agencies view the Genesys mission." He described the mission as extending from foundational research through implementation and stressed DOE's role in building the American science and security platform that will underpin the challenges announced under Genesys. The panel emphasized interagency coordination and international participation as a core feature of the initiative.
