Council adopts Lakeline Park master plan, prioritizes expanded access and habitat preservation

The council approved the 2026 Lakeline Park master plan after a presentation by SWA consultant Scott McCready and Parks & Recreation staff. The plan outlines priorities for Phase 2—enhancing existing amenities, elevating natural areas, improving access to the lake, adding shade and restroom infrastructure, and creating better north–south and east–west pedestrian connections including a new pedestrian bridge across Bell Boulevard. Staff said the plan is informed by more than 700 stakeholder engagements.
McCready described a strategy that treats the park as a series of "rooms," emphasizing a light touch in ecologically sensitive areas and proposing features such as a canopy walk, expanded trails to western woodlands, and a southern gateway connection. Council members asked about parking and emergency access; staff said those issues will be addressed in detailed design and outreach and pointed to an existing project site landing page (lakelineparkmasterplan.com). The motion to adopt the master plan passed unanimously.
