Ascension and local physician pitch neighborhood hospital; seek zoning and tax-code work from city

Dr. Henry Higgins described the organization’s experience operating neighborhood hospitals and outpatient departments, said his group treats about 200 patients a month in current facilities and has a waiting list, and said expanded services will require a properly zoned parcel. A consultant (Vincent Heidbinger) asked the council to direct the city manager to work with proponents and reopen the tax-code amendment effort; council did not take immediate action but directed staff engagement and follow-up discussions.
