Cedar Hill canvasses May 2 election; Patty Busshard and Miranda Azzin sworn in

Council member Daniel C. Hayden Jr., serving as the canvassing authority, read the results and declared the winners after totaling early votes, mail ballots and election‑day ballots. The canvass reported Busshard with 885 votes to Ty Coleman’s 546 (1,431 total) and Azzin unopposed with a total of 1,289 votes. "Having canvassed the votes of the election held on 05/02/2026, the city council finds and declares that the following candidates... were duly elected," Daniel C. Hayden Jr. said during the reading.
Following the canvass, certificates of election were issued and the city secretary administered the oath of office. Newly sworn councilmembers were welcomed by colleagues. "Congratulations," the presiding officer said as the council confirmed the certificates and the new members joined the dais.
The council moved immediately into other business, including presentations and a public hearing later in the meeting. The canvass and oath mark the start of the new terms for the two council members.
