Mayor Steve Mason read and signed a proclamation designating March 2026 as Women’s History Month in Cedar Hill, citing the national observance and the local theme "Leading the Change, Women Shaping a Sustainable Future."
Vanessa Alonzo, executive director of the Cedar Hill Chamber, accepted the proclamation and introduced a group of local women-owned businesses in attendance. "When women succeed in business, our entire community benefits," Alonzo said, stressing mentorship, job creation and reinvestment in the community. Council members posed for a group photograph with the honorees afterward.
The proclamation notes planned city programming including MWBE certification workshops and other events to highlight women leaders; no formal council action beyond the proclamation was required.
