City Manager Mr. Tapolino told council about a local historical display: a mastodon skull that was discovered in Fair Park 95 years ago will be on display Saturday, April 18, and the city will host a walk through Fair Park to Smith's Pond where the skull was found. He encouraged residents who are interested to attend the walk and described coordination with the local historical society and outside museums to loan additional artifacts.
Mr. Tapolino noted Laura Zay of the Camphill Historical Society arranged loans from Pittsburgh museums and Ohio State, and that the historical society will sell related mastodon plush toys at the event. The manager presented the history and the event as a community engagement opportunity rather than a council action item.
