Public Works Director Curtis Stultz told council the phase-2 contract will deliver full 100% design and bid documents for Evergreen Road intersection improvements at several key locations to improve safety and capacity ahead of expected development. He said HHPR (low bidder from the earlier phase) will continue with the full design and the city hopes to complete design by summer with bids in the fall.
Stultz said much of the design funding is drawn from SDC dollars and that teams across community development, administration and the project designer have been coordinating a moving target of needs. Council voted to award the contract to HHPR in the amount of $735,112.96 and authorized the city manager to sign the agreement.
Stultz said design work is intended to create documents that will be ready for construction bidding and to consider truck-route constraints while planning for future capacity and safety improvements.
