Board honors state champions from Patuxent track and Northern High softball

The Calvert County Board of Education on Tuesday recognized two student athletic achievements, adopting resolutions that commended Patuxent High School athlete Ayanna Smalley and the Northern High School softball team.
President Post led a formal congratulations for Ayanna Smalley, whose achievements prompted the board to pass a resolution wishing her success at Morgan State University. The board also formally commended Northern High School after the softball squad finished the season 21–4 and captured the 2026 Maryland 3A state championship. "We commend the players, coaches, and families for an outstanding season and remarkable accomplishments," a board resolution read. Both recognitions were approved by voice vote.
