Three Freeman Memorial scholarships awarded to children of city employees

City Manager Chris Barker announced that Bob Freeman funded three Julie K. Freeman Memorial Scholarships to be presented to children of city employees. Barker explained the award honors Freeman's late wife and that each scholarship is $1,000; he invited the winners and their families to the front and asked each student to describe their post‑graduation plans.
Aubrey Williamson said she plans to attend Stephen F. Austin State University to major in elementary education; Shine Thiel said she plans to attend Tarleton State University for animal science with a pre‑veterinary concentration; and Rainey Ferris said she is enrolled at Tarrant County College for pre‑nursing with intentions to transfer to UTA for a bachelor's degree. Barker and the Freeman family presented the envelopes and the council applauded the students.
