City Manager Chris Barker presented a $1,000 anonymous‑donor scholarship to Evan Thames at the start of the Euless City Council meeting. Barker explained the donor required that the award go to a city employee's child and congratulated Thames on being this year's recipient.
"This year's anonymous donor scholarship is Evan," Barker said, and added for the recipient's benefit: "Evan, this is cash money in here, so don't don't lose this." Thames introduced himself and his family and said he plans to attend Oklahoma Baptist University to major in ministry and theology. The council and attendees offered applause following the presentation.
