Resident warns of traffic and parking risks for proposed sports campus; commission hears resignation notice

During public comment, Todd Hemmert (5824 Hoochard Road) said beginning the campus and trail work in the West seemed premature because adjacent development and parking capacity are limited. Hemmert urged staff to plan for heavy tournament traffic, bus access and sufficient parking and said surrounding industrial uses could be incompatible if not thoughtfully sited. "There's not enough parking," he said, and asked staff to rethink how buses and overflow will be handled.
In communications staff updates, Bassam announced that Mister Deshler had resigned from the commission and that City Council is working to appoint a replacement; he also reminded commissioners about the American Planning Association conference in Detroit and the Urban Land Institute event in Nashville and encouraged timely registration.
