Dublin Food Pantry warns expansion plans may threaten operations after outreach from applicants agents

Julie Rinaldi, director of the Dublin Food Pantry, urged the commission to account for the pantrys operational needs as the Germaine expansion moves forward. Rinaldi said the pantry recently moved into its current facility at 6608 Dublin Center Drive and that it serves "over 10,000 households last year."
Rinaldi told the commission the pantry was approached by commercial real estate agents representing Germaine last summer about a potential sale and that those conversations included offers to buy property or help find replacement sites. The pantry said it had discussed terms in good faith and provided the commission with its private easement agreement to ensure future owners respect access and delivery arrangements. Rinaldi asked the commission and the applicant to coordinate on any design that could affect deliveries: "All of our food is delivered to the back bay in our building," she said.
Commissioners acknowledged the pantrys importance to the community and asked staff and the applicant to work cooperatively. No formal mitigation or compensation was proposed at the meeting; commissioners directed the applicant to take the pantrys easement and operations into account in future plans and to report back with proposals that avoid negative impacts to the pantrys service capacity.
