Council approves interlocal agreements on PID collections and EMS mutual aid updates

The Dickinson City Council voted to approve an interlocal collections agreement with Galveston County Tax Assessor-Collector to handle collection of real property assessments for Public Improvement District No. 4, a step staff said will centralize and improve PID collections.
City manager Chase told the council that placing these agreements under Galveston County and the tax assessor-collector's office would help address longstanding problems with PID administration. "Now all of our agreements will be under Galveston County, under Missus Johnson's office, and that's a good thing for us," Chase said.
Council also amended an interlocal agreement with Lake City regarding mutual-aid emergency medical services; Lake City is increasing its charge from $1,000 to $1,700 per the amendment. Dickinson staff and the fire/EMS chief reviewed monthly mutual-aid call volumes and said billing adjustments reflect costs associated with response. The auditor presentation scheduled for the meeting was pulled to a future May meeting due to the auditor’s absence.
