City staff reported results of competitive bid processes for multiple maintenance programs and recommended council accept the lowest responsive bids. Brian Gable said seven bids were received for the shared use path and parking lot maintenance project, the engineer's estimate was $670,000 and Brex Paving submitted the lowest responsive bid of $530,634.37; construction is expected to begin in May and conclude by October.
For the annual sidewalk maintenance program, Gable said five bids were received, the engineer's estimate was $365,000 and Coburn's Concrete LLC submitted the lowest responsive bid of $317,443.96. Council members asked technical questions about frequency and scope of path maintenance and about tree handling in sidewalk work; staff explained resealing and crack‑seal schedules and offered options such as meandering, shaving and tree replacement where removal is necessary.
