Hughes Road CDBG project at about 80% complete; contractor and schedule updates given

Hewitt Zollars vice president Katherine Mears and project manager Chaitanya Kasuri gave the council a high-level update on the Hughes Road CDBG project, reporting the job is nearly $29.5 million complete and roughly 80% of the budgeted work is in place. "The completion date for the project is September 5," Kasuri told council, and she said the team is already discussing partial substantial completion for finished sections with WCID 1 and the Texas General Land Office (GLO).
Kasuri outlined schedule metrics (about 71% of scheduled time used, roughly six months remaining) and said the contractor meeting that day left the team hopeful the work could finish on time or slightly ahead. Council members pressed on traffic control, staging and how the remaining contingency interacts with schedule overruns; Kasuri confirmed the remaining 20% is based on the approved contract amount including any approved change orders.
