Patrick Denard, general manager of WCID 1, told the council the district has several major projects underway, including a west-side 16-inch water line (approximately 4,425 linear feet and 15 fire hydrants), a 12-inch force-main replacement connecting two lift stations (about 1,650 linear feet), and a 36-inch sanitary sewer rehabilitation of roughly 5,950 linear feet using fiber‑reinforced pipe. "This line included approximately 4,425 linear feet of water line, 15 fire hydrants," Denard said while describing the west-side work.
Denard estimated the 36-inch sanitary sewer rehabilitation will last about 240 calendar days and discussed material lead times (about two months for FRP pipe). He also explained the district's use of a GIS system (Cartograph/OpenGov) to track degradation and plan for the next bond, which the district expects to propose in 2029. Council members asked about specific locations (Commodore, Oak and Deets, Geezer's Gully) and capacities; Denard noted the district is expanding capacity where older 10-inch asbestos concrete has been replaced with 16-inch PVC.
