City extends project management for new Aquatics and Recreation Center; ribbon-cutting this weekend

The project manager said the contract extension would cover closeout work through a projected completion date of May 6, 2026, and that roughly $800,000 remained in the overall project budget; staff said the amendment would not increase the total $55 million project budget beyond planned costs. "We will still have a savings of roughly $1,000,000," staff said when describing remaining funds after amendments and closeout.
Council members asked whether a temporary certificate of occupancy was in place and whether the extension suggested scheduling problems; staff said the facility is operating under a temporary CO because construction is substantially complete and the additional time covers punch-list and as‑built documentation. Council approved the amendment unanimously. The city is holding a ribbon-cutting on April 11 and plans an official opening on April 12.
