Council approves zoning amendment to allow existing Harbor Freight pylon sign

Planning and Zoning Manager Cambria Jordan presented a request to amend and restate Plan Development 129 to permit a pylon sign in place of a freestanding monument sign for a Harbor Freight site along I‑35 East.
Jordan told council the site plan and sign already exist and had been approved administratively in error; staff recommended formally approving the sign so the record aligns with what is in the field. She said staff mailed notices within the required radius and had received no letters of support or opposition. "The sign currently exists... they're not making any changes. They're just getting what is already existing approved," Jordan said.
Council opened and closed the public hearing with no public speakers and unanimously approved the ordinance to amend PD-129. Council members discussed visual continuity with surrounding businesses and noted staff and the building official recommended approval.
