DeSoto honors HR team for national workplace mental-health recognition

Mayor Rachel Proctor presented a mayoral commendation April 7 recognizing the City of DeSoto Human Resources department for receiving Mental Health America’s 2026 bronze Veil Seal for Workplace Mental Health.
"This national distinction reflects the city's commitment to fostering a supportive and mentally healthy workplace," Proctor said as she read the commendation and thanked Councilmember Deborah North for championing the effort. The presentation noted the city's work on mental-health-friendly benefits, work–life balance and equitable workplace practices.
Human-resources representatives said the certification connects DeSoto to affordable resources to support employee mental health and helps the city expand services to better serve residents. "Earning this bronze certification gives us access to resources that are affordable to, allow the city to elevate and provide more resources to improve the mental health of our employees," a human-resources representative told the council.
City leaders encouraged continued attention to workplace well-being as personnel changes and public concerns over staffing circulated during the meeting. The mayor signed and presented the commendation on behalf of the City Council.
