Paul Dreyer, representing the DeSoto Park & Rec Board and the DDC Park Projects Forum, gave a detailed update on the Aquatic & Recreation Center, describing the facility as a $55,000,000 project and confirming an April 11 grand opening. Dreyer said the ARC will include multiple pools, a running track, an amphitheater (on the master plan) and other amenities that make the facility more than just a swimming pool.
On membership and marketing, Dreyer reported that the campaign has generated strong digital engagement (roughly 81,000 views and about 1,700 link clicks) and stakeholder activity (10 stakeholder tours and 22 public tours, 330 participants), but membership sales were behind the board’s target: "Right now we've sold 360 annual memberships. The target though, this thing opens up in the April 11. The target is 1,200," he said. Board members raised questions about pricing, installment options and senior/family discounts; staff said fee changes would require budget approval and possible changes could be considered by September.
Ending: The board was asked to assist with cross-promotion, corporate partner outreach and sharing council members’ promotional videos ahead of the April events.
