David Beasley, owner and president of Trophic Innovation, presented TriMarine, a treatment he said is used to improve water quality and sediment health. Beasley said the product is NSF 60 certified and described multi-year treatment programs that the company uses in lakes. "It is NSF 60 certified for use in drinking water," he said during the presentation, adding that application is typically every two weeks for a multiyear window and that case studies show substantial reductions in phosphorus.
Beasley cited example results from case studies: he reported an "82% reduction over 2 seasons" in water-column phosphorus in one project and said sediment phosphorus had dropped about 45% in another. He discussed application methods (boats, hoses, biweekly dosing), potential local manufacturing (produced in Indian Town) and gave ballpark cost estimates for very large restorations (he described a multi-year, multi-million-dollar program for large lakes like Apopka and a smaller pilot estimate for Pine Meadows). Trustees asked about long-term ecological effects and toxicology studies; Beasley said the company has acute and chronic toxicology data on fish and invertebrates and offered to provide SDSs and documentation.
