Del Valle employees warn proposed 6.5% health premium increase would be a pay cut

Amina Josani said the proposed change “does not include any raises but increases employee healthcare costs by 6.5%,” and described personal medical expenses to illustrate the burden. She urged the board and superintendent to advocate with the Teacher Retirement System and state representatives to preserve benefits and mitigate premium increases.
Trustees did not vote on the benefit design at the meeting; the comment was recorded during public comment for consideration as budget work continues.
