Staff said the owner had not collected transient lodging tax since 2018 and that a proposed code update would require license holders to show they have collected tax within the last two years to remain eligible.
Chair (S2) described how the draft license code will include a collection-history requirement for renewal or continued use. Committee members noted the city’s waiting list for new short-term rental licenses is roughly 16 applicants and discussed using the revised license criteria to ensure active operators are collecting tax and freeing unused licenses for others. The committee asked staff to finalize the draft code language and return with implementation steps.
