Council hears first reading to reclassify 9.99 acres on Oakwood Trail to light industrial

At first reading the council heard staff describe a petition to amend the future land use plan to industrial manufacturing and to rezone approximately 9.99 acres at 101 Oakwood Trail to a light‑industrial district with a conditional overlay. Andrade of Development Services told council the change would allow light industrial and compatible employment uses consistent with surrounding development but that no specific project is proposed at this time.
Andrade said the Planning & Zoning Commission unanimously recommended approval at their March hearing and that the conditional overlay would impose additional standards if the zoning change is ultimately approved. Council opened and then closed a public hearing with no speakers and scheduled the item for consideration at a future meeting.
