Cody council adopts 2026 National Electrical Code to maintain home-rule alignment

Council adopted ordinance 2026-07 amending City of Cody code (Title 9, Chapter 2, Section 1C) to adopt the 2026 National Electrical Code. Yutona Dye, the staff reference for the item, said the state adopted the 2026 NEC and "in order for the city to keep home rule, we need to also adopt it as well," and that the city saw "no additions or deletions" in the current code cycle.
The council had no questions on third reading and approved the ordinance by voice vote. The adoption ensures the city's electrical code references the same model cycle as the state; no substantive local amendments were reported during the meeting.
The ordinance will update the relevant city code section; staff indicated it will proceed through the usual ordinance-adoption process.
