The court ratified the county's Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) FY2025 application and the committee's recommended allocations. Tanya Gaikon, Budget and Finance director, said the annual JAG award is projected at $973,878 and follows a 60/40 county/city split; Bexar County's share is currently estimated at $584,327. The grant committee recommended continuing funding for eight existing positions supporting adult drug court, DWI court, women's mental-health court, and related programs, but Gaikon noted an expected roughly $100,000 shortfall due to market adjustments and cost-of-living increases that staff will track.
Commissioners moved to ratify the application and authorize acceptance of funds upon award. Gaikon said the county and city will develop an interlocal agreement after notification of award. ‘‘We are projected to receive $973,878 for this year's grant...the county [share] $584,327,’’ she said. The court approved the motion by unanimous voice vote and asked staff to monitor any required local match or budget adjustments.
