Council rezones 2.08 acres near police department to ‘Public’ for joint-use safety facility

The Bee Cave City Council unanimously approved Ordinance 601 on April 28 to rezone an approximately 2.08-acre parcel adjacent to the police department (13333 State Highway 71) from Town Center Mixed Use to Public to align zoning for a planned joint-use public-safety facility.
Sean Olajano told the council the city and Travis County ESD are co-owners of the property and that the change would provide consistent zoning across the site to support a joint-use facility. "We're looking to rezone that to public to kind of align with the adjacent property for the purpose of the joint use public safety facility," Olajano said. He described the parcel’s location between Spanish Oaks and the shops at the Galleria and noted the land is currently undeveloped.
There was no public comment on the rezoning item. A council member moved to approve Ordinance 601, a second was received and the motion carried unanimously.
