Council adopts hazard-mitigation plan, park lighting and interlocal resurfacing on consent

The Bedford City Council approved several consent items unanimously on March 10, including adoption of a county hazard-mitigation plan, funding for park lighting and a county resurfacing agreement.
City Manager Andrea Roy explained that adopting the 2025 Tarrant County Hazard Mitigation Action Plan fulfills federal requirements under the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 and preserves eligibility for FEMA and regional mitigation grants; she clarified adoption does not obligate Bedford to fund specific projects but allows future strategies to be considered. "Adoption of the plan does not obligate us to fund any specific projects, but it does allow strategies to be considered in future planning efforts," Roy said.
The council also authorized the city manager to enter an agreement to purchase and install LED lights and poles at Central Park from Techline Sports Lighting at an estimated $156,000, funded from previously approved 2019 general obligation bond funds. Additionally, the council approved an interlocal agreement with Tarrant County Precinct 3 for resurfacing Charleston Court, Shell Court and Trinity Court, under which the city supplies milling, asphalt, fuel and traffic control and the county provides labor and equipment.
Council member Gagliardi moved to approve the consent items, with a second from Council member Donovan Brandon; the motion passed unanimously.
