City staff reported that the Hughes Road drainage project is approximately 80% complete and remains on track for substantial progress through the year.
"The Hughes Road project is approximately 80% completed," the City Manager said, adding that construction began in January 2025 and that the estimated completion date is at the end of September 2026. He acknowledged resident frustration over disruptions, said adjustments were made to detour routes and contractor plans, and apologized for earlier lack of notice.
City staff framed the project as a necessary long‑term flood mitigation measure that will provide meaningful relief to neighborhoods on the east side that have experienced chronic flooding; the manager asked residents for patience and careful driving in construction zones.
