The City Manager warned Dickinson residents that fraudulent emails impersonating the city or city officials have been circulating and urged caution.
"The city of Dickinson will never request payments, gift cards, wire transfers, sensitive personal or financial information from anyone," the City Manager said, advising residents to disregard messages that ask for money or personal data and to contact City Hall to verify legitimacy. He said scammers are using city names and employees’ names to create urgency and appear official.
The manager also listed ongoing local projects and resources in the same update: the Hughes Road drainage project is about 80% complete, with construction beginning January 2025 and an estimated completion at the end of September 2026, and Bayou Friends Forever has purchased a generator for the city animal shelter to be delivered April 27. He encouraged residents to report suspicious activity and said the city will work with residents to verify any questionable messages.
