City Manager Majid Algaffrey and Finance Director Lakita Sutton presented the city's FY2027 budget calendar and invited residents to participate in the process.
Lakita Sutton, the city's finance director, said, “Our plan is to submit our fiscal year 27 budget to the city council on 07/06/2026,” and described a series of workshops in late July followed by two statutorily required public hearings in September (one on the budget and one on the tax rate) and a planned adoption on 09/15/2026. Sutton said the fiscal year would begin on 10/01/2026.
Sutton urged public engagement, offering a QR code and a citizen survey to collect priorities that will be used to score supplemental requests and shape department proposals. City staff will hold a follow-up mini budget workshop with the council on May 11 and additional council workshops on July 30—31, she said, and financial reports will be posted monthly on the city website.
