Del Valle ISD superintendent previews AVID launch, convocation and Aug. 12 student start

Superintendent Dr. Gutierrez told the Del Valle ISD Board that teams across the district have been working through summer to prepare for the new school year and highlighted “Ready, Connect, Fly” as the district's leadership theme this year. He said AVID will launch across all three middle schools this fall and described the district's emphasis on alignment and ownership.
"We will welcome our new teachers next week and I am excited to see all of our staff members at convocation on August 7," Dr. Gutierrez said, adding that the district will welcome students back on Aug. 12. He also invited families to a Back-to-School Bash on Aug. 5 that will offer backpacks, school supplies, food and resources.
The superintendent thanked staff and trustees for summer work on curriculum planning, campus improvements, transportation and technology. He framed the AVID rollout and the leadership framework as measures to increase college-, career- and life-readiness across the district. No board action was required for this update.
