Council hears first reading on new fee schedule; small CPI hikes to utility items

Nate (city staff) walked council through line-item changes, telling the council the CPI increase would mean “about a dollar and 6¢ change to your garbage bill, for this year's CPI increase, which is, just over 4%.” He also highlighted permit clarifications (fence permit tiers: $25 for fences under 100 feet, $75 for 100 feet or more), new fees for daycare health inspections, event-permit tiers with reduced nonprofit rates, towing fees updated to meet state requirements, garbage-bag price increases from $12 to $14, and a curbside brush removal fee rise from $2.50 to $3 per month.
Staff emphasized that this is a first reading and asked council members to hold the updated document (it will be used again under the impact-fee item). Council did not take a final vote on the fee schedule tonight.
