Residents raised questions during the public forum about the selection and availability of Christian Goodman, who was named supervisor. Harold Lanning of Marshalltown asked whether Goodman’s role would be primary or secondary; Supervisor Goodman said his outside work is flexible and that he will maintain set office hours and prioritize supervisory duties.
Jordan Gaffney, who described the hiring process, said "nine candidates applied, one withdrew, and the remaining eight were interviewed" and added that the committee was impressed with all eight applicants. Marshall County Auditor/Recorder Nan Benson said the board "ended up with a good option and that Goodman did a few extras that made a difference." Paul Geilenfeldt asked whether Goodman would serve as the department liaison for Secondary Roads; Supervisor Heil said that liaison status "will be made official at the next Board of Supervisors meeting."
