Council directs pilot streaming of key boards; staff to test 'kit' recordings for others

She recommended a pilot expansion to Planning & Zoning and Parks & Recreation in council chambers and a lower-cost "meeting kit" approach (single-camera/audio packages) for boards with lower public interest, and said the city is evaluating AV upgrades and cybersecurity constraints around certain third-party services.
Council members generally supported a tiered pilot. "Let's start somewhere," one councilmember said, and several members urged prioritizing boards that meet and make spending recommendations. Staff was asked to produce a project plan and costs over the summer, trial the kits, and return with a recommendation for which additional boards to add and how transcripts and archives will be provided to the public.
The motion passed directing staff to pilot streaming in council chambers for a small set of boards and to develop transcript and recording solutions for lower-tier advisory meetings.
