City will map missing sidewalks and bring connectivity plan to July meeting

City Engineer Mara Quad told the board the current automated assessment will include sidewalks for the first time and will record where sidewalk segments are entirely missing. "When we say missing sidewalk, it is that full segment," Quad said, explaining that the analysis flags a segment from point A to point B as missing and that the city already keeps a GIS layer showing which segments are absent.
Quad said the sidewalk data will feed a two‑year analysis and a connectivity plan that will recommend where sidewalks should be installed, whether alignment changes or easements are needed, and how an ADA transition plan should be incorporated. Staff expects to present the connectivity plan and related cost estimates at the July meeting, after which the council can consider funding priorities.
