The School District of Manatee County School Board on July 28 adopted a tentative total millage rate of 6.275 mills for fiscal year 2026–27, approving each component of the levy in unanimous 5–0 votes. The board approved the required local effort (RLE) at 3.027 mills, the discretionary operating millage at 0.748 mills, the additional voted levy at 1.000 mil and the local capital outlay at 1.500 mils.
Deputy Superintendent of Business Services Sellers presented the millage slides and explained the breakdown of the total rate and how the pieces appear on state reporting forms. "For this coming fiscal year, the total millage rate is 6.275," Sellers said during the presentation. She also explained the rollback rate (6.0998 mills) that is used for statutorily required disclosure and noted the difference corresponds to a 2.87% change on the tax roll.
Board members made and seconded motions on each millage component and the superintendent presented resolution No. 2026-001 adopting the total millage of 6.275 mills; the chair announced each vote passed 5–0. The board proceeded through the votes as a group of related agenda items and recorded each item as approved by the board.
