'1 Book, 1 Garland' schedules September programs, author visit Sept. 27 at Central

Senior librarian Daphne Ferris updated trustees on the "1 Book, 1 Garland" community-read program. Ferris said kickoff occurred June 13 and that branches have scheduled multiple programs tied to the selection, including arts and craft workshops, a three-session presentation series at North on intergenerational trauma, a bilingual craft event at South on Sept. 25, and a central author event on Sept. 27 where author Marcela Fuentes will talk and sign copies.
Ferris said registration will be required through Eventbrite and that Friends of the Library will provide refreshments and wine for the Central author event for attendees 21 and older. She also said branch displays and museum loans will support program themes, and that staff are forming a committee to select the next book.
