Library board approves minutes, welcomes new member Louis Moore

Moore said he and colleagues founded a nonprofit, Friends of Garland's Historic Magic 11th Street, to support preservation work in the city and that "we got 2 new state historic markers approved, that honor the Black community, Sims Chapel and, the original flats." Moore also noted work honoring the Valle family, identified in the meeting as the city's first Latino family in 1927.
Board members welcomed Moore and briefly introduced themselves. The meeting proceeded to staff and capital-project updates.
