Council authorizes ordinance to permit condemnation if Lovers Lane easement talks fail

City Planner/attorney Mr. Thatcher presented an ordinance authorizing staff to initiate condemnation to secure easements required for the Lovers Lane roadway project if negotiations with the property owner are unsuccessful. "This was a property that's one property owner, but it encompasses two different lots, two different easements, a street easement and a grading easement," Thatcher said, and asked the council to authorize the step to keep the project moving.
Councilmember Traylor moved to approve action item number 2 and Councilmember Weatherford seconded; the council voted to approve the ordinance. Staff said they remain in negotiation and would pursue condemnation only if negotiations fail.
