Meg Brew, director of the Office of Economic Development, told the board the office leverages partnerships with UCF, LEAD and the SBDC to attract jobs and help existing businesses. “As a result of these efforts over a $119,000,000 has been invested into Lake County and 341 new jobs paying at or above a 115% of the average wage have been created,” Brew said.
Brew described a reduced FY27 budget request (down about 18.5%), attributed partly to incentives maturing or being terminated and to internal efficiencies and cost‑sharing with partners. She emphasized workforce development partnerships with Lake County schools, Lake‑Sumter State College and Lake‑Tech, and highlighted marketing and site‑readiness work for strategic corridors including Wolf Branch and Mineola Commerce Park.
