The Hurst City Council approved on first reading Ordinance 26‑21, a site plan amendment allowing Alexander Roofing to add a 1,200‑square‑foot storage building at 1305 Cimarron Trail.
Planning staff said the existing office building has been renovated and the proposed metal storage building will be sited away from residences, meet landscape requirements and retain an existing six‑foot wood fence as a buffer. Justin Alexander, the property owner, told the council he bought and fully renovated the building last June and that the storage structure would provide the outdoor storage his business needs.
A council member asked about the distance to the closest fire hydrant; staff replied the nearest hydrant is approximately 240 feet away and Fire had determined that the building configuration is acceptable for hose lay and access. A council member moved approval and the council carried the motion by voice vote.
The ordinance was approved on first reading and will return for a required second reading before final adoption.
