Council approves canvass of special election results; Allen Eaton sworn in

The Hurst City Council voted to approve Resolution 19-13 canvassing the May 2, 2026 special election results and formally acknowledged the results before administering certificates of election. Mayor (speaker S1) said the council would accept the resolution after council members reviewed the returns.
Following the canvass, Allen Eaton took the oath of office as council member, Place 5, swearing to "faithfully execute the duties of the office of council member, place 5, of the City of Hurst, State of Texas." The mayor and colleagues recognized outgoing council member Gary Waldron for his service; the mayor noted, "This is the last vote that Gary Waldron will take on this current council."
