Sanchez accepted the honor and thanked his wife, board members, engineers and staff, saying, "I wanna thank y'all very, very much for the honor you've given." He also flagged wastewater service in rural unincorporated areas as an ongoing challenge the utility will continue to tackle with county partners.
The court and drainage district members praised Sanchez’s contributions to water treatment, transmission and reliability in the Rio Grande Valley. No formal action beyond the proclamations was taken — both recognitions were ceremonial and recorded as approved by voice vote.
